From the Deputy Principal Head of Glenroy Campus: Stuart Harrison Vol 4

It has been a very busy time at the Glenroy Campus over the last two weeks for both Year 7 and 8 students.

Year 7 Camp

All our Year 7 students recently went to Camp Manyung in Mt Eliza for 3 days.  Apart from enjoying all Camp Manyung has to offer it is always a fantastic opportunity for our newest Penola Catholic College students to build new bonds with both their peers and staff. A big thank you must go to all the staff that attended and who made the camps possible.

Year 7 Retreats and Year 8 Reflection Days

The Year 7s have also participated in the retreat program at the Hope Centre in Glenroy.  All students take part in a retreat program as part of the Religious Education program, where they further develop their spirituality and relationship with God.

Over the last week the Year 8 homerooms each spent a reflection day in the city as part of their Religious Education program.  During this time they looked at our own church through a visit to St Patrick’s Cathedral as well as the Eastern Rites church St Nicholas Antiochian Church and East Melbourne Synagogue.  They gained great insight into Catholicism, as well as the differences and similarities with other religions.

Start and End of the School Day

Can I please ask parents to be mindful of pedestrians, when dropping off and picking up your child from the Glenroy campus. We have had an incident where a member of our staff was almost hit while walking into the school grounds. In the past we have asked parents to park a street or two away and to ask your child to walk to you, to avoid congestion around the school grounds and to keep all safe. Furthermore, please do not drop off or pick up students in the T intersection outside the Glenroy campus.  Apart from being illegal it also is dangerous.
