As Term 1 nears its conclusion we can well reflect on the achievements of the past two months. The calendar has been full with exciting things which truly reflect the holist nature of the educational experience at Penola. These experiences continue over the next two weeks before the term holiday.
The House Athletics Carnival is due to take place on Wednesday 3rd April. This is a fun-filled day with the added bonus of generating school spirit and identifying students who would qualify for our school’s athletics team. This is a compulsory school day for all students. Students and parents will be informed of the alternative date should the weather not be suitable on that Wednesday.
During whole-school related events, where the whole school meets on the senior campus (like the House Athletics Carnival), traffic congestion in areas close to the school, especially along Gibson St. or the adjacent roads, becomes difficult to manage. On these occasions, parents are encouraged to drop off, and meet their child, in an arranged and safe area away from the college main gates. In the afternoon, when buses are trying to negotiate Gibson St., it becomes especially congested and unsafe when cars are obstructing the area near the college’s main entrance. Parents are also reminded that they are not permitted to use the college driveway as a drop-off are for students. If your child is suffering from a physical disability, please contact the college to seek advice regarding an appropriate drop-off area.
I will be on leave for the whole of Term 2. On Wednesday 3rd April, I will be accompanying staff and students on the Classics trip to Greece and Italy. When that trip comes to an end, I will take the rest of Term 2 as Long Service Leave. I wish Mr Stuart Harrison every best wish as he fills in as Acting Deputy Principal: Head of Senior Campus until my return.
With best wishes until Term 3.
Head of Senior Campus
