The Career Expo and Senior Programs Evening last week was a wonderful success with students from the senior campus having access to representatives from the various tertiary institutions that attended. They were well supported by our own staff’s input about the opportunities available at Penola. Various booths provided information about courses and programs available in 2020. In the next few weeks, students from Years 9 and 10 will have individual course advice to ensure the most viable subject selections are made in pursuit of their career path. Students are urged to ensure that transition deadlines are met to give themselves the best possible chance of enrolling in their preferred subjects and programs. Best wishes to all students as they consider important choices for their future.
Student Leadership Program
The Student Leadership Program is well under way with students who have nominated for the program already completing their training sessions. The fabric of the student leadership team for 2020 will be made up from students who have been engaged in this program. At the College Leadership Assembly next Friday, we will introduce the candidates for the College Captain and Vice-Captain positions. Students will then vote for the preferred candidates. We wish the candidates every success as they prepare themselves for high profile leadership positions for next year.
The final Parent Teacher Student Partnership Meetings (PTSPM) for the year takes place on Thursday 22nd August. As this is the final opportunity to meet staff to discuss your child’s progress it is an invaluable occasion. Information about the specifics for the evening will be made available through Caremonkey in the coming days and the parent portal for making appointments to see staff will be opened on Wednesday 14th August. This evening will also double up as an Information Night for parents of Year 12 students to be informed of the important final stages of the year as their child nears completion of their studies at Penola.
