As we continue to navigate our way through the final term, toward a much-earned break, the Headstart program has provided students with an invaluable insight into the academic requirements for 2019, as well as giving them a context for the holiday homework that is to come. We hope that these opportunities are well accepted by students and serve them well as they prepare for the year ahead.
The Awards Night held on Monday 26th November was an opportune time to acknowledge the achievements of students in the academic area and in areas like student leadership, community and co-curricular involvement. Our special guest, former student Justine Cumbo, spoke to students about having the courage to be yourself and believe in yourself, and to find the drive and ambition to reach your potential. I am certain that Justine’s genuine spirit and motivational words will inspire students to be authentic workers for successful outcomes. Congratulations to the students who received awards. A link with the names of students awarded the various awards is available HERE.
On Monday 3rd December we welcome the current Year 8 students onto the senior campus as they undertake a shortened version of the Headstart program. I am certain that their transition onto the senior campus as Year 9 students will be a smooth and successful one.
As the year progresses towards the closing days, please note that the final student day will be Thursday 6th December. Students will be dismissed at 3:10pm. The college office closes on Tuesday 18th December and Years 7 and 9 – 12 students return to school on Friday 1st February 2019. Year 8 students return on Monday 4th February.
I wish all students and parents a happy and holy Christmas and a safe and restful holiday.
