Dear parents, the term is moving at a fast pace and the senior campus is gearing up for the final stages of 2018. Last week we had a fitting finale for our Year 12 students. The final assembly and Graduation Mass and ceremony were tributes to them as they enter their final stages of their enrolment at this school. We wish all Year 12s well; those sitting examinations at the current time, as well as those who seek other opportunities outside of study. We hope that they take with them some special memories of Penola Catholic College.

The rest of the senior campus are also preparing for the final stages of the year with end of year masses and assemblies coming in the next few weeks. Once again, these important events highlight the transition from one year to another. As such they are compulsory events and all students are required to attend. Students absent from these events need to provide medical certificates to cover their absence and to ensure that no further action is required from the school.

As quickly as this year will end, the 2019 academic year will commence with the Headstart program calendared to start on Wednesday 21st November. Parents will have noted that this is a change to the calendar issued earlier in the year in order to provide staff adequate opportunity to prepare for Headstart. The Headstart program is an authentic study experience as students will be assigned their 2019 classes with the allotted 2019 teacher. It also provides students with a glimpse of the program of study for the next year and a context to the holiday homework that may be assigned.

Last weekend our elected student leaders for 2019 took part in the annual student leadership camp in Dromana. Students were kept busy with a number of activities that highlighted the school’s expectations of them as leaders, as well as giving them an opportunity to get to know one another and starting to plan for the year ahead. We wish our student leaders well in their endeavours for 2019.

Best wishes to all students as we enter the final stages of the year; and especially to our Year 12s!
