From the 12th of September, a special space just for parents toi gather each Wednesday morning will be setup on the Glenroy campus. All parents are invited to pop into the Art room just inside the front gate to make themselves a cup of coffee and a snack and to catch up with each other and Penola staff present. Youth Ministry Report from James and Gilbert, our College Youth Ministers

We have an awesome Youth Ministry opportunity coming your way on Wednesday the 12th of September!

Reloaded is coming back for Term 3, and with it we have an awesome evening planned! For the first time, Reloaded will be held on a Wednesday afternoon, straight after school at 3:30pm. Our guest this term is Myka, a young woman from the Philippines. Grown up on the streets of Manila, Myka’s life had its share of struggles and challenges. But thanks to her amazing passion and determination, and long with a few key people who helped her nurture and grown in her true potential, she was able to truly follow God’s call in her life. Come and hear her inspiring story and join us on reflection on our own callings in life.

And of course, we’ve got heaps of games, great new people and free pizza for dinner thrown into the mix as well! Once again Reloaded is shaping up to be a great opportunity to make new friends, have an exploration of faith and, of course, have heaps of fun along the way. Check out the flyer or the ads on myPenola for more information!

Finally, Penola is proud to be involved with many ministry and community service programs and share our Josephite spirit. Many of our students have had these efforts recognized through various scholarships, awards and University offers. To get involved, please contact the school Youth Ministers (jmein@penola.vic.edu.au or gmein@penola.vic.edu.au), or visit either us or Ms Nicole Allan (nallan@penola.vic.edu.au) up at Mannes House during school hours. We’d love to help you out!

Mary MacKillop Feast Day Celebrations

August the 8th once again saw our community giving witness to our faith through the charism no of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop on her Feast Day. A great day was had by all in spite of a few spots of rain! This year we had the Little Long Walk for the first time – this event offered our community the opportunity to learn more about Indigenous culture in an effort to more strongly forge reconciliation in our community. As always we had a lot of fun and also, importantly, raised lots of money for our six year level charities.

Year 7 Retreat

All year seven students have recently participated in their retreat day. It was organised by the NET Team which is a Catholic peer-to-peer youth ministry that puts into action the Church´s mission to evangelise and disciple young people.

The retreat day was filled with fun and thought provoking workshops that encouraged student’s to build a relationship with Jesus and love the church.

Our students were challenged to invest in Jesus and to never limit themselves in all that they do.

The student’s behaved beautifully, relishing the opportunity to be in a relaxed environment amongst friends and being led by a young but knowledgeable NET team.
